UCAT ANZ Eligibility
Eligible candidates
UCAT ANZ is only available to a candidate who is undertaking or has completed the final year of secondary school, or higher.
For example, candidates registering for UCAT ANZ 2025 should have completed, or plan to complete their final year of secondary schooling in 2025, (Year 12 in Australia; Year 13 in New Zealand).
Students in Australian Year 11 or New Zealand Year 12 are NOT eligible to sit the test.
Candidates are eligible to sit UCAT ANZ if they have commenced or completed an undergraduate degree. It is noted, however, that not all undergraduate degree programs for which UCAT ANZ is a prerequisite will offer places for non-school leavers. Candidates are advised to check the UCAT ANZ Consortium university websites for further information. International Candidates
A limited number of UCAT ANZ Consortium universities require international students to sit UCAT ANZ. Candidates are advised to check the UCAT ANZ Consortium university websites for further information.
International candidates registering for UCAT ANZ 2025 should have completed, or plan to complete their final year of secondary schooling in 2025.
Candidates applying to Australian/ New Zealand and UK/ UK Partner universities
Candidates intending to apply to Australian/New Zealand consortium universities and UK/ UK Partner Consortium Universities listed on the UCAT UK website (for 2026 entry) should sit the UCAT ANZ for the following reasons:
- Australian and New Zealand admissions deadlines are earlier than in the UK.
- Australian/New Zealand universities only accept UCAT ANZ results.
Candidates are not permitted to sit both the UCAT ANZ and the UCAT (UK) in the same year (i.e. UCAT ANZ 2025 and UCAT UK 2025). This is considered candidate misconduct.

Note the following:
- Candidates can only sit UCAT ANZ once in any test cycle. Instances of multiple testing in the same year is treated as candidate misconduct and all results will be cancelled.
- UCAT ANZ 2025 results are valid for the 2025 university admissions cycle ONLY (for entry to university in 2026).
Candidates who are NOT eligible to sit UCAT ANZ
- Australian Year 11 students or lower are not eligible to sit the UCAT ANZ. This includes Year 11 students undertaking one or more Year 12 subjects. Year 12 students completing Year 12 over two years are only eligible to sit the UCAT ANZ in their final year.
- New Zealand Year 12 students or lower are not eligible to sit the test.
- Any person having an affiliation with a UCAT coaching business, for example, as a tutor, as an item developer, or having some financial interest in a UCAT coaching business is not eligible to sit the UCAT ANZ.
